Wallets, Payments, And Rewards
Some Showdown events use wallets and on-chain payments. Users should understand what they are signing before joining.
Supported Payment Concepts
| Concept | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Entry fee | Amount a player pays to join a paid event. |
| Sponsored pool | Prize amount funded by an organizer or sponsor. |
| Hybrid pool | Sponsored pool plus player entry fees. |
| Escrow | Funds held until an event resolves or becomes refundable. |
| Claim | User action that withdraws a prize or refund. |
Supported Tokens
Showdown currently uses SOL and USDC for Solana-backed flows where enabled. Token availability can vary by environment and event configuration.
What A Wallet Signature Means
A wallet signature may be used to:
- Join a paid event
- Fund a sponsored or hybrid prize pool
- Start or confirm an on-chain action
- Claim a prize
- Claim a refund
Users should review wallet prompts carefully. Showdown will never ask for a seed phrase or private key.
Prize Pool Math
Prize pools can come from different sources:
- Entry-fee only: player entry fees make up the prize pool
- Sponsored only: organizer or sponsor funds the prize pool
- Hybrid: sponsor funding plus player entry fees
Fees may apply before the winner receives the final amount. The event page should show the entry fee, prize pool, token, and payout rules.
Refunds
Refunds may be available when:
- A tournament is cancelled before starting
- Minimum participant requirements are not met
- A paid event cannot proceed due to platform-controlled failure
- Event rules explicitly allow withdrawal before a cutoff
Refunds may not be available when:
- A user loses a completed match
- A user misses check-in
- A user violates fair play or conduct rules
- A user abandons a match after start
